LondonEnergy (formerly LondonWaste) has this week launched START Safely, a ground breaking employee engagement programme designed to develop a culture that puts Health & Safety at the heart of the business and makes it the first consideration for the company’s 265 employees and visitors to their sites.
The 12-month programme aims to position LondonEnergy not just as a health and safety leader in the waste and recycling sector but also ensure that its performance is comparable to the leaders in any other similar industry. Start Safely will incorporate a range of interactive activities including employee workshops based on a number of topics including culture & Golden Rules, Manual Handling, Vehicle Safety and PPE.
This engagement activity will be supported by new, modern and clear signage across the entire business. The START Safety culture will be underpinned by LondonEnergy’s Five Guiding Principles:
- Stop and question all unsafe acts
- Take responsibility for your own and others’ safety
- Always wear correct PPE
- Report all hazard and incidents
- Take 5 to SLAM (Stop, Look, Assess, Manage)
