2019 North London Mayors visit EcoPark

LondonEnergy hosted its annual charitable event today to support the North London Mayors in their bid to raise funds for their chosen charities.

The event took place at the company’s head office and gave the Mayors an opportunity to find out how almost 750,000 tonnes of household waste and recycling is managed every year.

Peter Sharpe, Managing Director at LondonEnergy, spoke about the company's achievements from 2017 - the launch of the Euro 6 cleaner engine vehicles, the company’s continued commitment to health & safety and the fact that the waste to energy facility now produces enough energy to power around 82,000 homes in London.

The event culminated with the presentation of the Company’s donation of £1000 to each Mayor’s chosen charity. Peter Sharpe said: “We are delighted to support charities from our local community which make a real difference to the lives of people in the capital.”

This year’s list of worthy charities reads as follows:

  • Barnet – Live Unlimited, raises aspirations for children with care experience in Barnet
  • Enfield - Together We Are Enfield
  • Camden- Camden Music Trust
  • Hackney - Hackney Quest and Father2Father
  • Haringey - Ambitious about Autism and John Dewy Special
  • Islington - CARIS Islington and Freightliners City Farm
  • Waltham Forest – the charity supporting vulnerable teenagers and young adults.
